This page provides guidance for those designing PMC cards to mount on the 9U VME motherboard. Note that the mechanical drawing of the motherboard now has dimensions for the location of all PMC card connectors.
The motherboard can accomodate 1-4 PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) type boards. Typically this will be one large 249mm x 299mm board but other sizes can be accomodated.
Below is a sketch of the board with all forseen connector sites shown. Note the coordinates (A-D for columns and 1-8 for rows). The table below gives the type and proposed usage of all the connectors.
| Column A | Column B | Column C | Column D | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Row 8 | SCL (FRC) | SCL (FRC) | Alt. PCI 3 (J1) | Alt. PCI 3 (J2) |
| Row 7 | Alt. PCI 3 (J3) | |||
| Row 6 | PCI 1 User (J4) | PCI 1 64-bit (J3) [1] | ||
| Row 5 | PCI 1 (J2) | PCI 1 (J1) | VTM [2] | |
| Row 4 | Std. PCI 3 (J1) | Std. PCI 3 (J2) | ||
| Row 3 | Std. PCI 3 (J3) | J3 Row C bus | ||
| Row 2 | PCI 2 User (J4) | PCI 2 64-bit (J3) [1] | ||
| Row 1 | PCI 2 (J2) | PCI 2 (J1) | VTM [2] | VTM [2] |
Notes:
All connectors are 64 pin PCI standard connectors except noted in [2].
[1] - reserved for 64-bit expansion of PCI busses 1,2. Not required.
[2] - VTM signals may be brought in either at C-1, D-1 or D-1 and D-5.
These are 84 pin connectors.
